With the project «Musical Freedom», young Norwegian artists aim to shed light on how the social and societal changes in Europe at the end of the 18th century and the rise of the bourgeoisie facilitated the democratization of access to art and culture. By contextualizing the music they will perform during the concert, they will provide the audience with the opportunity to view European societal development from a new perspective and reflect on how we, as individuals, are fundamentally influenced by our ability to express ourselves freely and actively participate in shaping the society we live in.

Pianist Olaf Andreas Strand, from Mo i Rana, is a graduate of the Norwegian Academy of Music, where he was mentored by esteemed instructors such as Håvard Gimse and Kathryn Stott. Olaf’s exceptional talent has earned him top honors, including the Norwegian Music Competition for Youth in 2018 and a remarkable victory with Trio Cordis at the Norwegian Music Academy’s Chamber Music Competition the following year. His performance repertoire spans across Norway, Sweden, Austria, Malta, and Lithuania, captivating audiences both as a soloist and chamber musician. Notable collaborations include performances with esteemed ensembles like the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, the Norwegian Broadcasting Orchestra, and the Toppen Festival Youth Orchestra.

Violinist Tor Alvin Wika, from Mosjøen, is an alumnus of the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo and the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, where he received mentorship from eminent figures such as Terje Moe Hansen, Lars Anders Tomter, Mats Zetterqvist, and Julia Kretz. Tor Alvin’s illustrious career is adorned with numerous awards, including the Royal College of Music in Stockholm’s Local Music Stipendium, Sparebank1 Northern Norway’s Talent Stipendium, and Vefsn Kommune’s Culture Stipendium.
